Dưạ trên câu chuyện có thật từ năm 1971 về vụ cước ngân hàng Lloyds Bank tại thành phố Marylebone - London, hãng Liongate đã chuyển thể thành phim với ngôi sao phim hành động "Transporter" Jason Statham.
Tháng 9 năm 1971, những tên trộm đã đào một đường hầm ăn thông với căn phòng chứa két sắt của ngân hàng London's Baker Street và cưỡm đi một cách gọn gàng những két sắt chứa đầy tiền mặt và nữ trang trị giá 3 triệu bảng Anh. Không một khoản tiền nào trong số đó được thu hồi và cũng không một tên trộm nào bị bắt giữ. Vụ án trộm nhà băng này là tiêu đề nổi bật trên các trang báo chỉ trong vài ngày rồi sau đó đột ngột bị ém nhẹm.
Để rồi, ngày hôm nay, The Bank Job lần tìm lại và bóc gỡ những bí ẩn đằng sau vụ án. Đó là những vụ án mạng, tham nhũng và tai tiếng tình dục có liên quan đến một gia đình Hoàng Gia, và hóa ra, những tên trộm trong vụ trộm táo bạo kia thực chất chỉ là những kẻ vô tội bị liên lụy…
Là một tay môi giới xe hơi láu cá lui về ở ần, Terry (Jason Statham thủ vai) luôn tìm cách né tránh những phi vụ làm ăn. Thế nhưng khi Martine (Saffron Burrow thủ vai), cô người mẫu láng giềng xinh đẹp đề nghị anh chủ trì một vụ cướp táo bạo vào ngân hàng Baker tại London, Terry không thể bỏ qua cơ hội có một không hai trong đời mình. Martine thì tập trung vào các phòng để các hộc tiền gửi với các khoản tiền mặt và trang sức của khách hàng.
